Have you ever had an idea that nagged at you to PAY ATTENTION? For years, I’ve had this concept that I’ve ignored until March 2023 when I decided, that’s it! It’s time to pay attention and take action!
During my drives to and from listings or between showings, I sometimes pass by homes that truly capture my attention – whether it’s an excellent color choice, an impressive
renovation, or a respectful tribute to a vintage home’s heritage.
In the past, I’d daydream about stopping, knocking on the door, and sharing my admiration with the homeowners. But, instead, I continued on my way keeping the thoughts of admiration to myself. That changed March 2023, when I passed a freshly painted vintage stone home and thought, “Well done, you!” I decided it was finally time to bring my idea to life.
First, I needed a catchy name that wasn’t already claimed on social media. After considering a few options, I finally settled on “Best Nest Award.” Next, I designed the logo (which you can see at the top of this page). Then, I created the award itself (shown at the bottom of the page). But I had the most fun deciding what small token of appreciation I would choose to leave to unsuspecting homeowners. Staying true to the “Best Nest” theme, birds were an obvious choice. For anyone who knows me well, they know I LOVE owls. In fact, I am somewhat of an owl geek. And so, the owl became my mascot of appreciation.
Now, I’m ready! The next time I come across an exceptional renovation or bold paint choice, I will no longer just drive on by. Instead, I will pull over and leave a small bag hanging from the front doorknob containing the #BestNestAward and an owl of appreciation. Then, I’ll write about it and share photos here, as well as on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. That way you can admire and be inspired by the Best Nest Award winning homes, too.
