The Very First Best Nest Award – Craftsman on the Delaware River

This beauty sits high and proud across from the Delaware River in Bucks County. The only question is: Does she admire the river or does the river admire her?

I LOVE the Craftsman era in architecture! It is my absolute favorite! I love everything about it; the natural colors, the exposed rafters, the tapered columns atop stone, the deep front porches to idle away the hours… So it is not surprising then, that my very first #BestNestAward goes to these homeowners who painstakingly renovated their craftsman to its vintage glory.

What attracts me to this style are architecture are two factors: 1. its mastery level of skills in the craftsmen who built these home 100 years ago, resulting in a timeless style and 2. the sense of solidity and stability created by its distinct beefy characteristics. For me, the Craftsman period is the foundation of Form follows Function.

It is my dream to restore an old Craftsman one day, one that retains its original, beautiful solid wood doors, millwork, leaded glass built-ins and exterior elements that I find so warm and inviting. So, when I see a Craftsman that has been brought back to her glory days, I want to celebrate it!

Well done, Homeowners! Well done!
